HANDPIECE, DISPERSIVE PLATE AND DISPERSIVE PLATE CORD
Do you need a handpiece, dispersive plate or dispersive plate cord for your electrosurgery unit?
Macan replacement accessories will make the difference.
|
DISPERSIVE PLATE (FDP-1)
 |
This is the "Flexi-plate" and is standard for MC-6A, MC-4A, and MV-7A models. This durable and comfortable plate eliminates individual attention for each case in dentistry and allows versatile placement and good efficiency in veterinary service. The "Flexi-plate" is a worthwhile option for the MC-6 dental unit and works well with the MV-9 unit also. The "Flexi-plate" is not autoclavable. Clean with disinfectant. |
DISPERSIVE PLATE (DPP-1) AND
DISPERSIVE PLATE CORD (DPC-2):
 |
The Macan dispersive plate and dispersive plate cord may be purchased either together or separately. |

Cleaning and care of Macan accessories
All accessories must be inspected for wear and or damage every 30 days. This inspection will insure that your accessories and the Macan electrosurgery unit are functioning properly to meet the maximum performance and safety specifications.
If you find that an accessory part is worn or damaged, replace it immediately. Accessories are not covered under the Macan electrosurgery unit warranty.
All Macan accessories may be sterilized by standard methods. All should be cleaned of blood and tissue debris before sterilization. Standard methods of sterilization include:
Autoclave: 273 F @ 30# Pressure
Dry Heat: 320 F, 1 Hour
Chemical: Any bactericide
Handpieces and cords require regular sterilization. Autoclaving is the preferred method. Handpieces should be inspected for wear and damage of the plastic body of the handpiece, the cable, and the plug that fits into the electrosurgery unit.
- The handpiece should be inspected at the metal-to-plastic joint under the handpiece cap. This joint is called the seat. If any cracks are found in the plastic seat, the handpiece should be replaced. This cannot be repaired.
- The wire inside the handpiece shaft is prone to wear and breakage. If this wire is broken inside the handpiece there will be intermittent output to the electrode tips or no output at all. To check this simply hold the handpiece body firmly in one hand and pull sharply on the handpiece cord away from the body of the handpiece with the other hand. If the handpiece cord stretches or gives in any way, replace the handpiece. This cannot be repaired.
- Care should be taken to not lose the screw-on handpiece cap. The handpiece will not hold the electrode tips in place without this cap. If this screw-on cap is lost a replacement can be purchased from Macan.
The Macan ground plate and ground cord are both very important and delicate. They provide a return current path back to the electrosurgery unit. They must be in perfect working order at all times.
Inspect both the flat surface of the plate as well as the edges of the plate for "nicks or breaks" in the insulation material. If there is exposed metal on the plate, it should not be used and replaced immediately. Inspect the ground cord for cuts and breaks in the cable. The plugs on both ends should be checked for wear and to make sure they are connected properly to the cable. Do not use a defective gound plate or ground cord with the electrosurgery unit. | |
